The Harley Davidson features its electric bike which has got a removal battery and a belt driven powertrain, using this scooter H.D could also enter into a new business of rental scooter, for now it is just an anticipation. last year H.D. showcased a concept of electric scooter, with the help of patented images we can have a difference of the new model or concept as compared to the old one. here is what you can see the difference.
what you see here in this image is the frame which is a lot more better or simplified as compared to the old one. the frame is altered from its squarish design to its tubular one and painted with bright orange, the front USD fork now features the fork cover to stay away from dust, disc brakes along with the wheels have been redesigned as well.
in this new design you will not see any box type design for battery pack and power train design, it has come up with a sleek design where the motor share the housing with the battery possibly made of cast aluminium , battery pack has also got the handle at the top which facilitates care and handling of battery and to make it portable, the battery can be charged anywhere in home and offices, the motor drives the rear wheel which is driven with the help of belt.
in this new concept H.D. provided front and rear fenders, an arched production ready seat, new handle, the halogen headlight remains same as usual, brakes, throttles and mirror is seems to be missing in the drawings however these must have been updated too.
with the help of this electric scooter Harley is trying to enter into a new business area of rental e-scooter, due to which dealerships will be opened to other peoples also. it is expected that electric scooter will be launched around 2021-2022.
since we don't know the full specs of the Harley e-scooter, what we can do is make a guess of it. this version should have motor of 3-5kW as compared to live wire which has 78kW in it. not sure about the top speed what what we guess is it should be around 30mph-50mph to keep it legally on the road even without a motorcycle license. and definitely it is going to be cheaper though not sure how much but definitely not 30k$, however it should be around 5k$ to make a reach to everyone.
lastly what i think is that the design is little bit olden age though it should be comforty due to the wide leg space, the handle seems to cover 90% of leg space so it should not be much problem in handling the bike, though the bike is intended for single only but dont know how much overload it can handle, and what is the range of the battery is still hidden, since the bike will be used only for domestic purpose therefore it should have some goods carrier for carrying stuffs like groceries etc, lastly the design looks like driver will have front tilting and could give no relax to the back. what do you think about this new concept of H.D's e-bike.
